Sexy back has Rake’s name all over it *sigh*

    Ok…third time’s a charm…hopefully. Stupid internet here in Afghanistan.

The character, I believe, you were talking about for “Wretches and Kings” has to be one of 3 characters: Darq, Ravil or Tasanee. Why? Darq goes on an uber rampage against a Hell Hydra in book 2. Ravil essentially blows up a Bangkok city block in book 1 and then goes all Navigator of Doom in book 2. Finally, Tas kicks some serious ass…or rather fries some serious ass…in book 2 when she discovers her Fix-It abilities.

Like you, Darcy, I listen to music when I’m pounding out a story. I’ll admit, most of these songs/artists I haven’t heard from. My choices range from BOC to Linkin Park to Avenged Sevenfold and even some Kid Rock. It’s kinda funny how I’ll hear a song and then boom…I get an idea for a scene in my story. Needless to say, a lot of scenes in my stories are set w/ a particular theme song, so to speak, as the backdrop…sort of like background music in the movies.

    • Good choices for the reasons you stated, but the epic uber rampage is still to come. Not saying it isn’t one of them later 😉

I have a tendency to only ramp things up as I go.

Yeah my music choices can be all over the place, most of what I listen to comes from other people. I always take music recommendations since I don’t listen to the radio. So I can be incredibly out of touch with the current music scene. But I’ll take any song as long as I have that “I can plan a scene to it” moment.

What kind of stuff do you write?

Back in the day (English class in high school) I wrote mostly action/sports action type stuff. Now, though, I’m into writing Sci-Fi and Fantasy stuff. I’ve got 3 stories in-work. I took a creative writing class at the military base I’m stationed at around a year or so ago and the prof all but threatened bodily harm if I didn’t get my stuff published. It’s something I want to do, just kind of hard w/ wonky shift schedules, deployments and trying to finish up my associates before I retire from the Air Force. Between the deployments and freakin’ recurring knee surgeries, finishing up my associates is proving to be…troublesome. LOL

I’ve been on a kick lately w/ movie soundtrack music. Check out Two Steps From Hell (both Invincible and Archangel albums), Jo Blankenburg and Future World Music. Two Steps From Hell’s “Invincible” album is, by far, the best of the bunch. But I also love Avenged Sevenfold (certain songs gets me in the mood to whoop some ass LOL) almost as much for the inspiration their music gives. Check out their albums “Nightmare” (songs Save Me and Buried Alive), City of Evil (M.I.A., Strength of the World, Betrayed, The WIcked End and Sidewinder). I’ve got quite the eclectic taste in music…

  3. Sweet I love new music! Especially right now (I’m a report chick for my “real” job and I need new music during the deadline time of the month) Keeps me sane.

    Ouch to knee surgery 😦 😦 😦

As for writing, just keep at it. I try and get something done each day (even if not writing, then I re-read what I’ve written, or proof or edit, or doodle, scene plan, etc). I think I read over my first book, Morningstar, hundreds of times and I could probably continue to mess with that one (and all the others). At a certain point you just have to stop yourself.

I got a lot of encouraging feedback by posting my stuff over on Fictionpress (that’s where I started). You can post chapter by chapter and get feedback on each one. That type of forum gave me the confidence to move forward with self-pubbing.
